SKATEREVOLUTION.COM ONLINE SKATEBOARD VIDEO CHALLENGE
$10,000 IN CASH AND PRIZES!
SkaterEvolution.com presents Proving Grounds, our online annual video skateboarding contest to find the best skaters in the country. This competition is open to all skateboarders, pro, amateur, sponsored or
not. Skaters compete against each other in their own age class and style of skating. They will create a 2 minute video of themselves performing their best tricks and upload that video to our contest. We will pick the best 100 skaters in each age class and each skate category. Then the skaters will pick the winners by voting on their choice of best skaters. Skaters will com- pete for their share of a $10,000 cash and prize purse.
FOR THE SKATEPARKS AND SKATESHOPS: Display our flyers about the contest at your park or shop. Have the skaters choose your name in the referral area when uploading their
contest video(s). If they win in any of the age classes or categories, your park or shop will receive a $100 donation from Skater Evolution and a featured write up on our website. In addition, just for allowing our flyers at your location, we will place you in our directory for local skateparks or skate- shops.
Keep in mind, the more skaters you have submit videos, the better your chances on winning.
We kick off our contest on April 4, 2011 then you can begin uploading your videos. You have until April 27, 2011 at which time we will begin
choosing the top 100 viideos for each age class and each skate category. You have your choice of either street or vert skate category, make your choice and make your video. Voting will begin on May 04, 2011 and end on May 13, 2011 with the winners being announced on May 14, 2011. Count Down to the Parade 2011!!

woodys_web

Thank you for signing up to be part of this year’s parade with us! If you haven’t signed up yet, do it RIGHT NOW right here

We are very excited to be part of this HUGE opportunity to show everyone how big our community really is and we need you all to put a good show on the 2nd biggest St. Patrick’s day parade in the whole USA… think about it! close to 1 million people will be watching you!

If you have a chance,  stop by Woody’s and get your t-shirt! They are $10 and your purchase will help us pay for the parade fees… buy a t-shirt and skate for free!!

If you aren’t able to stop by, don’t worry about it… just make sure to wear something green and we will be OK.

The Skinny:
We will be meeting at the corner of Lincoln and Henry Streets.
Here is a map of the location (from last year but the spot is the same)

WHEN?
This year’s Parade will take place on Thursday, March 17th.

Check-in time is between 11 and 12 noon.
The parade starts at 10 AM but our float won’t be moving until later in the afternoon (likely 1pm)… you may start there with us or join us along the parade route.

Notes:

  • Parking will be scarce –  so make sure to get there early or get dropped off at the meeting point.
  • The parade will be long – It should take at least 2hrs to go over the whole route, and we will be sitting around for a while before our section starts moving…. so be ready for a long day!
  • Make sure to be rested and bring a drink or two for the ride – I’ll have some drinks with me for the riders but it is unlikely to be enough for everyone. Also, bring a snack so you are not starving while waiting… Kroger’s is  just around the corner from where we setup… just keep that in mind and bring some cash if needed.
  • No alcohol will be permitted… don’t even think about it! – the parade boss will throw us all out if a single person on our group is found drinking during the parade. So if you have to “load up,” just stay home and watch us from your living room TV!

Lastly, consider the fact that this is our chance to show the city that we are not a bunch of criminals… SO, be on your best behavior, put on a good attitude and skate on. It should be fun again!

Email me at skate@woodys.skatethatshit.com with any questions… if you are a parent and would like to join us too, you are welcome to bike along… and let me know if you have any questions.

Plainview Skate Shop: Welcome to the scene!

Heads up boys and girls! Savannah has a new skateshop!
It is long in the make but Plainview Skate Shop will be opening its doors to the public this coming Saturday March 12! You better put it on your calendar and show up for the grand opening…. I sure as hell will be there.

Cruz, the owner, is a friend and fellow skateboarder… BUT, more importantly, he is one more person to put his finances on the line and invest on the Savannah skate scene… Make sure to give him the respect and drop in for a purchase or two… if you skate, you owe him that!
His address is:
15 east Bay street
Savannah, GA 31401
map that s*it

Good going Cruz and welcome to the family! Now just buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Best wishes from me and the woody’s crew!

Skate the St. Patrick’s Day Parade with Woody’s!

woodys_web

You read it right! Woody’s and the friends of Chatham Skatepark  will be at the St.Patrick’s Day Parade AGAIN this year and we need you to come on down and skate the Parade with us!

We will be skating the whole Parade route and no one will be able to say anything about it! We have a permit!

This is an “all hands on deck” call-out to the skate community in Savannah and surrounding areas… Tell your kids, tell your wife and your husband! If you skate, blade or BMX, all you have to do to skate the Parade with us is sign-up and show up!

WHEN?
This year’s Parade will take place on Thursday, March 17th.
If you plan to be on the Parade with us, you will have to show up for the parade line-up around 11 AM!
Latecomers may join our group as we skate down the Parade route… just make sure you have your skateboard handy!

WHY?
We are skating the Parade to promote this sport by showing the city that we are here! We want to give this community a face and let Savannah see that we are NOT and do NOT look like criminals. That our community is huge and this sport should be recognized as such…. oh, and to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day…

HOW?
For now, all you have to do is sign up! We will contact you with further information via email and updates to this site.
We will be making t-shirts for everyone that signs-up… so, make sure to get your size right on the registration form and  expect to spend a few bucks on it.

ANYTHING ELSE?
Yes indeed! As you may already know, our skatepark operates on a very small budget… So, if you or someone you know has experience raising funds (quickly) or would like to sponsor or help us with the costs of this gigantic undertaking, let us know. WE CAN USE ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET! Don’t be shy and email us at skate@woodys.skatethatshit.com

Enough talking! Now it is time for action!
