St Patrick’s Parade Pictures!

Well, here we are again trying to catch up! Finally found the misplaced memory card with all the parade pictures! check them out on Flickr!

We had about 85 skaters this year! The day was beautiful and we skated the parade down with pride! If you missed the chance, let me just say you missed out big!

Many many thanks to our parade sponsors for making this even possible!

  • Ben and the Friends of Chatham Skate Park
  • Mr. Bill Nelson
  • Mr. Steve Jepson

We would specially like to thank Billy’s Mom, Kim, for her undying support of this park and all the energy she brings into it!

Also many thanks to the parents that helped keep the kids under control on the parade… we had an unruly crowd and you handled them all with grace and calm… we are really thankful for all your work and hope you guys had as much fun as we did!

that was just the beginning of a big season… stay tuned for more fun this year!

Count Down to the Parade 2011!!

woodys_web

Thank you for signing up to be part of this year’s parade with us! If you haven’t signed up yet, do it RIGHT NOW right here

We are very excited to be part of this HUGE opportunity to show everyone how big our community really is and we need you all to put a good show on the 2nd biggest St. Patrick’s day parade in the whole USA… think about it! close to 1 million people will be watching you!

If you have a chance,  stop by Woody’s and get your t-shirt! They are $10 and your purchase will help us pay for the parade fees… buy a t-shirt and skate for free!!

If you aren’t able to stop by, don’t worry about it… just make sure to wear something green and we will be OK.

The Skinny:
We will be meeting at the corner of Lincoln and Henry Streets.
Here is a map of the location (from last year but the spot is the same)

WHEN?
This year’s Parade will take place on Thursday, March 17th.

Check-in time is between 11 and 12 noon.
The parade starts at 10 AM but our float won’t be moving until later in the afternoon (likely 1pm)… you may start there with us or join us along the parade route.

Notes:

  • Parking will be scarce –  so make sure to get there early or get dropped off at the meeting point.
  • The parade will be long – It should take at least 2hrs to go over the whole route, and we will be sitting around for a while before our section starts moving…. so be ready for a long day!
  • Make sure to be rested and bring a drink or two for the ride – I’ll have some drinks with me for the riders but it is unlikely to be enough for everyone. Also, bring a snack so you are not starving while waiting… Kroger’s is  just around the corner from where we setup… just keep that in mind and bring some cash if needed.
  • No alcohol will be permitted… don’t even think about it! – the parade boss will throw us all out if a single person on our group is found drinking during the parade. So if you have to “load up,” just stay home and watch us from your living room TV!

Lastly, consider the fact that this is our chance to show the city that we are not a bunch of criminals… SO, be on your best behavior, put on a good attitude and skate on. It should be fun again!

Email me at skate@woodys.skatethatshit.com with any questions… if you are a parent and would like to join us too, you are welcome to bike along… and let me know if you have any questions.

Plainview Skate Shop: Welcome to the scene!

Heads up boys and girls! Savannah has a new skateshop!
It is long in the make but Plainview Skate Shop will be opening its doors to the public this coming Saturday March 12! You better put it on your calendar and show up for the grand opening…. I sure as hell will be there.

Cruz, the owner, is a friend and fellow skateboarder… BUT, more importantly, he is one more person to put his finances on the line and invest on the Savannah skate scene… Make sure to give him the respect and drop in for a purchase or two… if you skate, you owe him that!
His address is:
15 east Bay street
Savannah, GA 31401

Good going Cruz and welcome to the family! Now just buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Best wishes from me and the woody’s crew!
